this is somewhat related but how good does a pull start work on a k5.9 i hate carrying a brick which they call a roto start:( everytime my xl stalls gotta bring it out... anyways i just wanna see how many people recommend a pull start for xl since it has a really big displacement can the pull start handle it? thanks

im going to the hobbyshop today to put a pull start on my hpi savage x 4.6...the rotostart takes a while which in turns runs down the one way barring....CHECK OUT MY SAVAGE VID

i used to do what you did, but i found a good thing to do, was take the O-Ring thats on the starter shaft of the roto-start, and slide it onto your engine shaft where the one-way is. i did that and i use a drill to start and hasnt slipped in a month.

depends on how your engine is setup.
make sure you prime it correctly, and have a good glow plug.
i can start mine in -26 degrees CELCIUS in canada for only like 5 pulls.
a one way bearing is 18.99 and a pull start is 27 lol

4 years ago the hpi pull start was around 30 and the one-way wearing was 20-25 add tax and your above $50. Now i get one-way bearings for $2 a piece. I go to Canada Bearing and order the bearing inside the one-way housing and press the old bearing out and press the new bearing in. Done. and well for the pull start i usually break one every month or so, but i pick them up cheap around $5-6 a piece from a local guy.

@burtonkidd
oh and what i meant about the $50 is the one-way bearing and the roto start gears in the back plate. They always blew up on me HAHA!

wast of money y not clean them with WD-40 it makes them like new its oil that gets throgh the starter shaft then to the bearing so it slips just clean it with a rag and WD-40
