The models in-game look fine during actual gameplay, but they're just sloppy-looking during the cutscenes... I like the shinier models from the later games better, they make the characters look more vibrant and lively.

I just wanted to point out guys that in the Dreamcast version of the game in the First cut-scene Sonic had his old shoes and then during the level it switched to his new ones ;) The more you know.
