A DIY MIDI-USB controller in the style of the Ondes Martenot, controlling a Mellotron organ sample on an NN-XT in Reason/Record. The ring controller spins a 10-turn potentiometer, which in turn is hooked up to a Hale Microsystems UMC32 DIY USB-MIDI Microcontroller. In this example, the system is modifying the pitch of a continuous note played on a software sampler (NN-XT) inside Reason/Record. The sample in this example is a Mellotron organ sound, but of course this could be anything, and the controller could modify the pitch of any source (e.g. a synthesizer) inside Reason/Record. The second channel being used on the Hale microcontroller is a linear potentiometer at the moment (but needs to be changed to a rocker-type potentiometer to better emulate the Ondes) - when this is manipulated, it controls the volume and attack.
