Painting demo by dutch painter Jos van Riswick. Picked up this box at a 2nd hand store. Don't know what is inside. Wanted to paint it and then destroy it so no one will ever know...

Also a little demo of my rotating easle near the end of the video..

  • Do you mix your colors for a particular painting before you start, or do you have a certain way that you basically set up your palette most of the time and then mix on the canvas, (or is it a board?) or am I way off?

  • @cestchaz I use a 'full spectrum' palette with fixed colors. Before I start I mix a couple of more specific colors in the subject, eg the back ground, the light and dark side of the box. But these are different for each painting...

  • Wait a minute... On this painting you painted the foreground, then the background, then the midground. I'm confused. How do you decide what to paint first?

Thanks for all your info. It really helps.

  • @cestchaz hi, basically it's also background first, the vertical part of the table doesn't matter mutch, just a dark horizontal beam of color...
