@IKillLittlegirls awesome how it flows from so-called 'emo' to indie rock and everything else. and emo is a pointless genre, which fails completely.
-
I like how bluesy it is at the beginning! haha
when jesse is just fucking around
-
@IKillLittlegirls and should not exist as a genre at all.
-
@star0dreamer started with deja entendu and the real change was seen in "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me" and kept working it's way up from there,
pretty epic.
but any music conveying emotions is considered emo,
seeming emo means emotional.
death cab for cutie is emo because it conveys his emotions on something,
3 inches of blood is emo because if conveys their emotions also.
technically anything conveying emotions is emo.
hence why it is a stupid genre
-
brand new grew out of their "emo" stage. on their newer stuff the lyrics get more deep and you can tell they've changed.
-
also it's "I kill myself because I'm so frustrated." not cut.
-
"Watch me as I cut myself wide open, on this stage as I am paid to spill my guts.."
i don't think he literally means like cut himself in this. im pretty sure he's just making a metaphor (if that's the word i'm looking for) towards spilling his guts through his music.
-
I know what a metaphor is. I know what thier songs are about. I don't know what you're trying to argue. There's not really a question in whether or not the album falls into the "emo" category. Deep lyrics don't change that.
-
again:
"I'll KILL myself because I'm so frustrated"
...at the process of creating an album under pressure.
"Spill my guts" is figurative for 'tell all', as in he's paid to 'cut himself wide open' in order to tell all about his life, or to allow his 'guts' to 'spill'. It's a metaphor. Their lyrics a just a bit deeper than that.
