@2129261184 Canards also used on russian aircrafts with high weighted radars to counter the unbalanced nose.

@xTomcatsForeverVF84x Canard was equipped to a version which carried N011M Bars radar. This radar is heavier then the original radar design for SU-27 and it affect the aircraft centre of gravity. The canard help restore the balance with a bonus of increase agility.

Why does the MK have forward canards but the MK2 doesn't?

@xTomcatsForeverVF84x Canards are optional, the increase maneuvrability but also increse RCS and reduce top speed because of drag. Canards can be installed at any time, its up to the client
