Ginger's wide shouldered, narrow hipped, long legged body looks exquisite in this dress......especially in graceful, exuberant, motion. The whole country must have been in love with her. Fred is not only a genius but the most generous of dancers.....he almost becomes invisible....a black silhouette, as he showcases his gorgeous partner. His dancing is so picture perfect, so zen, we almost lose sight of it. He's the moving negative space in this composition which makes Ginger jump out at us.

Not to take anything away from Astaire, but videos like this remind me of a tribute that I read to Ginger Rogers, which noted that she not only matched Fred's steps, but did it while in high heels and usually dancing backward.

@mobydoug Check out the Too Hot to Handle clip from Roberta. They're both so young and flexible, lol, but she looks almost like a fantasy.

Fans of Fred and Ginger should seek out their autobiographies. Ginger Rogers' is more interesting in some ways because her mother was part of Hollywood from the silent days, and the stories are occasionally frightful, the way children were treated. The mother sent Ginger to live with family in Texas rather than have her exploited by the studios.
When Ginger was a star, she was extremely picky about the costumes she'd be wearing in the dance sequences. Interesting stuff.

Meu Deus ! Maravilhoso.

could you upload the whole clip instead if in the middle of it? :S

HI Kaitlin, thanks! - lovely to see this again, but I wonder have you got the complete clip of this one? It would be so much more enjoyable than just this one minute from the middle of it.

At least the poster didn't remove the soundtrack and add a idiotic rap song or something, like many other boneheads have done. I do agree though, that the clip needs to be replaced with the entire dance number, not just the center cut portion. It loses a lot this why.

love this classic we'll never see the likes of them again
Well said, @mobydoug!
