  • BTW".. I watched some YT demos where they said the Pirahna is the poor mans Triaxis?. HOGWASH BULLSHIT! Lets say the Triaxis is the poor mans Pirahna!!.Triaxis and all Mesa/Boogie stuff are real good Equipment, but just depends on your taste.I always liked that BIG Marshall power crunch sound and feel but still wanted MORE. I found that extra Magic I was searching for in the Pirahna Preamp.

  • Then I read about the Rocktron Pirahna and took a chance and bought one. Wo! This thing is Badass! Finally scored big on a chance! Thing is a tone shaping MONSTER!. To me, it has that warm Marshall Plexi depth and feel, but able to Dial up just about any amount of distortion and shape the EQ" way beyond what a stock Marshall can do.and if thats not enough, you can use the Global function to take your tone even further. I could rave on and on...You just have to try one to know!

  • Yeah" them are all great! just different flavors". I had so many Marshalls that I actually got tired of having the same tone all the time.Plexi reissue-JCM800"s-900"s- JMP-1"s-DSL"s-401 combo..then I went to Laney"s, GH100TI-GH100L-AOR Heads..Then a couple of 5150"s and 5150 II then 5150 III(I did like the 5150III ALOT!)Has that classic marshall type crunchy breakup without the tinny raspiness that Marshalls can have.Ended up allways going back to the Marshall Half stack. Continued..

  • @dewycatt2112 I got all of them in my closet, they are all nice pre amps, these days I play thru a marshall half stack, but when i read what you wrote it makes me want to bring out the rack of doom again, lol

  • One of the best! Not THE best! Pirahna far surpasses the performance of the JMP-1.JMP-1 is a great preamp though.I know cuz I owned (2).Pirahna-Jmp-1-Triaxis-2120 Digitech...them are the best to choose from! That Voodu Valve is up there too". Yeah" I know" everybody want what they own to be the best!".After haveing compaired my Pirahna with My JMP-1 in my 9200 rack Side by Side compairision"..It was almost imediate that I knew the JMP-1 was bye-bye..better tone options!!

  • Yea you can hear that it is a simulation. Almost as if you convert a wave file to mp3 with very low bitrate. But then the Marhal JMP-1 is the best preamp you can get if you want a distorted sound. Plug in a TC Electronic G-Major in the send retrun and the angels sing/scream.
