Mythos Games X-COM: UFO Defense Enemy Unknown

Challenge Series: witness early detection of a sectoid and cyberdisc filled Terror ship! Mind Control by the month of April, hopefully. February third of gameplay, I noticed UFO activity almost double in a day but long and short range radar detected nothing. The activity abruptly stopped as the UFO didn't land, just passed over the Canada/US border and then dropped south. After a couple of reloads I spot it with skyranger radar and give chase. Amazingly the large Terror ship slowed after a downward turn and my two intercepters brought it down in Cuba. Early success wasn't easy. My troops still unarmored and way underpowered found it very difficult to pop the hulls of those well armored discs. To keep plasma burned soldiers alive my medikit research pushed the use of alien artifacts several weeks out. But it is a good feeling to pierce the sectoid leaders hide with a stun rod multiple times and say, you are coming with me to answer a few questions.

Mission Strategy Guide Tutorial Walkthrough Tips Tricks Still using light fire arms along with cannon, auto cannon, rocket launchers and high explosives to accomplish this mission. These troops can't rely on anything but themselves to improve accuracy and time units. They were ready for this mission because I loaded them down with heavy weapons to improve strength beforehand. Still, only in the 2nd month and I'm already on my 13th mission. I wont post every mission but I will show a mission to include every UFO encountered except the Small Scout. I'll continue to upload a series of recorded gameplay (edited) showing my attempt to beat the game as quickly as possible without cheating plus exposing tricks and tactics I have developed over the years of playing the game. This will be another edit where I have to use split screen to observe the progress of the two squads all while reducing the time of the video down to ten minutes.

In 2007 XCOM was selected as best PC game of all time by the staff of IGN. I never tire from playing it and there is always some tech guy out there making a way to keep playing it on faster and faster machines. I'll be focusing on early mind control and accomplishing the final mission without bringing ANY WEAPONS, only PSI-AMPS. If you enjoy strategy and tactical turn based games or movies like District 9 I recommend this game STILL SOLD TODAY at places like Steam. Tell me that isn't impressive considering that it was released in 1993. My posts will include my edited music that suits the game: electronic, sci-fi, creepy, suspense, dark drones and many more influences. The music is a collection edited together in two tracks: geoscape and battlescape. The tracks are available for download. Be sure to visit xcomufo.com projectxenocide.com and ufo.yaa.dk

Comments including how fast you beat the game are welcome.

  • never played xcom before. What one is the best one to get into?

  • @Sneak693 do a google search for xcom and steam. The original xcom is what I have uploaded here. You could save ten bucks by buying the complete pack. I never really got into the rest of the series, if you want to call it that.

  • Is this the original version of the game, or is it some sort of modification?

Also how do I not get my own base raided by the aliens early on.

  • @f4ckutube Base raids happen when you shoot down several UFOs. If you have a raid that keeps wiping you out I'd go to a previous save that goes back a few days. Roughly three days back might allow you to avoid the raid mission

  • Awesome video. Got a bit of a nostalgia overload watching it. Superb gameplay, Ziocody. Was pleased to finally see someone else who plays the way I do - saving the good turns, reloading them in again until I get the right outcome! This game was a major highlight in the history of computer games.

  • Well, examining the vid/ graphs more closely I see you're at 13 UFOs and have had 160+ UFO activity... I didn't even break 80... I might restart this one... Also, I'm curious to know if all 13 were recoverable and if you keep much of anything or just sell sell sell.

  • @Sneak693 steam buy ufo defence + tftd + xcom apocalypse and you will have month of FUN.

i LOVE all three games, they are awesome.

  • @f4ckutube

If at all possible try to capture Aliens alive on a very small UFO. I had times where I captures a Sectoid Navigator or Leader and I get the Mind Shield Technology that dramatically reduce your chances of base attacks.

  • @ziocody

Interceptor is pretty good, nice blend of action and strategy, Terror From The Deep is also good, whatever you do though, DON'T play X-com: Enforcer, just DON'T.

  • O-M-G I LOVE THE PART 3:46 WHEN THE ROCKETS COME OUT OF THE JETS AND SHOOT THE ALIEN!!!

  • @DmdWasserTanzt I recorded gamepley using CamStudio, then I added the music during editing. Music is available for download on the net. Go to xcomufo dot com and look under the music tab

  • @ziocody Yes, I think that's the problem with how AVI handles files that are over 2GB. I heard that when you get to 2GB and go over it, the video becomes unusable. Also, you upload over 1GB per upload? Doesn't that take long and take up a lot of bandwidth? But yes, thanks for replying.

  • @JoshuYT In CamStudio I record the highest possible quaility, then edit the video with Edius & export the file in HD as an .M2T for uploading to youtube. A 15 minute video will be around 2gigs. I haven't had a chance to encode to MP4 which will reduce the size & keep the quality. A note about CamStudio: on lengthy recordings I have had write errors when the program tries to process the audio. I'm considering recording the audio with something else like SoundForge. Video has never been a problem

  • @ziocody Can you please tell me the details when you're using CamStudio? I'm interested in what screen capturing codec you use, and also, if you recompress it after. Please reply :)
