the vast majority of mosses are saprophytic. . .they eat the detritus on the outer perimeter of the bark, but not the living tissues of the trees that host them.

Is the moss used additively or subtractively (if that's a word)? Do you grow it or find it someplace and trim it into cool shapes? I'm wondering what's best for the moss--the removal of filth that's around it or being left alone?

the moss is growing on the wall. it seems to be the same process he uses with the dirty walls. using stencils and a pressure washer. very cool indeed.
