Chang Lee and The Dubarrys - Tell Me - Extremely Rare Newark Doo Wop Feat. Joe Pesci

This is an extremely rare 45. I think it was cut with a 78 cutter head.. The grooves are extremely wide and the record played terribly with a microgroove stylus. I played it with my 78 needle which made it sound much better, although the sound quality is still marginal

Is that Pesci singing lead? It sure sounds like it! Weird pressing that needs a 78 needle, u don't see that every day!

I think it's Joe on lead too. I think whoever mastered it screwed up.. They probably didn't set the azimuth correctly on the cutting head and it dug too deeply in, which would explain why it plays better with a 78 stylus and yet it doesn't play well with any cartridge I have

Really fun find...thanks for sharing. I too agree it sounds like Pesci on lead but Chang also has a clear high voice. Love to know for sure.
