http://www.pitching.com Parents, coaches and players can quickly learn why most pitchers are not able to maximize their velocity and control by doing a side-by-side comparison to a major league pitcher with quality mechanics where the body is producing velocity...not the arm. When we do a complete motion analysis for high school, college or professional pitchers we like to use pitchers like Greinke or Bard or others with powerful mechanics that exhibit proper weight shift, late hand break, good leg drive while finishing with the head and chest out over the landing knee. Neither more strength or long toss will help speed up the arm. Most amateur pitchers are not able to produce powerful mechanics because they are not videotaping which is the only way to identify mechanical problems that reduce velocity and control while adding stress to the arm. http://www.pitching.com

  • Notice one is a starter and the other is not. With Bards mechanics you cant go for a long period of time because his elbow gets above his shoulder and his hand is outside of 90degrees at weight baring footplant

  • @SoulControllerAve yeah, deffinately.

  • @drumerrboi77 lol it's cool. I just found it weird that he was trying to say that. I mean, he obviously didn't watch the playoffs if he's thinking only Feliz and Wilson were topping 93...

  • @SoulControllerAve oh, i didnt notice that one, my bad.

  • @drumerrboi77 This guy was talking about pitchers in the playoffs not topping 93 though. Of course Ubaldo has a nasty fastball, but the Rockies didn't make the postseason! I mean there's literally dozens of guys I could list that have mid 90's upper 90's heat but the ones I just listed were guys who were doing it in the playoffs last year.

  • @SoulControllerAve dont forget ubaldo jimenez, he was hitting 99 at the all-star game

  • @bangsnapsgalore Nobody topping 93 except Feliz and Wilson? Guess again, even just on the Giants there's Casilla who throws harder than Wilson. Ryan Madson on the Phillies threw real hard in october, as did Aroldis Chapman. As starterson the Reds Cueto and Volquez were hitting 96 in the playoffs. In the AL there was Price, Liriano, Sabathia and Burnett that were all throwing mid 90's in october....where are you getting this "nobody topping 93 except Feliz/Wilson" stuff from?

  • @yogaflame30 as a collegiate pitcher. I understand what an arm goes through over the course of a fall and spring season. there is no reason why velocities should taper off that much if you are pitching with good mechanics and are doing teh right things to keep your body healthy

  • @bangsnapsgalore

well that is to expect. After a loooong season your arm just can´t throw as hard as in the beginning of the season. Plus the pitchers get less days off to rest their arms.

  • @yogaflame30 idk if you watched the playoffs. there was no one over 93 except wilson and neftali feliz. their velocities all tapered wayyy off at the end of th season
