Authorities in northern Italy say more than a thousand turtle doves have dropped dead over the past 5 days. It's the latest in a series of unexplained sudden death incidents affecting creatures in the sky and underwater. The events have sparked a media frenzy, with doomsday speculators saying it hails the end of the world. But is there really something fishy going on or is it being overhyped? RT's Katerina Azarova reports.

It could be a biblical sign, or it could be global warming, polar shifts, carbon, fireworks, aliens, pollution, HAARP etc. Either way, it's fun watching scientists pretend to know.

Clearly this may be a direct result of air and water pollution, the use of pesticides and fertilizers, other chemical, biological, or nuclear pollution. It may even be a result of experimental weapons or even alien technology, but most likely the former. -Brandon

@spinlover1 Why is that sad? I don't want to watch videos specifically about people dying... this is something different. I want to know why masses of animals are dying. Maybe it's something natural, maybe it's something that we are doing, maybe just about anything. Regardless I am watching for what is happening differently than in the past. As I think most are.
