The Flanger/Curl is a vertical design where the dies are mounted opposing one another. The upper die is mounted on a platen that is attached to a hydraulic cylinder. When this cylinder is actuated the dies close resulting in the shell being formed with flanges or a flange and curl.
The Bead Expander is a vertical design with the dies two sets of bead dies mounted above. A Drum Lift is used to lift and position the shell for beading. This machine is Hydraulically driven with a Cylinder used to advance the cones which expand the Bead Dies.
The operator positions the shell on the Lift and then initiates the cycle. At that time the shell is lifted to the preset position and the dies are expanded thus creating the beads. Once the dies collapse the shell is lowered and the operator removes the beaded drum.
The production rate for this machine is 200 drums per hour.
Wow, I did this for almost 8yrs at mutual stamping & manufacturing in Milford ct.

@2008koss i'm in can manufacturing for canned food and we still have 3 machines to do the same thing alot faster though... has alot to do with the thickness of the material.

i'm not in this particular business, but still, in manufacturing; ...this process seems very slow ... why 3 machines to take it from seam welded drum to final ?
