Construction Update #5: Veterans Skatepark 1/8/12 - Woodbridge, VA - Thunderwood

Here is the fifth construction update on the new Veterans Skatepark in Woodbridge, VA. Over the past week they have built a few more of the hubbas and installed a flatbar/handrail. They have also built a step up gap near the bowl and have installed the pool coping on the bowl. The construction looks great, but some of the design seems kind of whack (like the really steep double bank next to hubba) but time will tell how the park is. CHECK BACK NEXT WEEK!

The double bank, eh no big deal. Yeah probably should've put some steps in but if it gives some sort of pump into the rest of the street course thats fine. The rest of the course looks great luckily. One concern I have as far as the obstacles go is the lack of deck for the step up gap. The shallow end of the pool is right there, could get a little dangerous but they did not have any overwhelming amount of space to work with.

@Poolskater Yea, you're gonna have to curve to the right to avoid the pool. Kinda stinks that you have to perpendicularly to everyone going down the stairs/banks to get speed for the step up. Crash up derby factor will be high.

@FullCountSkateco Yea... I'd say the hubbas are around/abobe waist high. Really tall.
