Lotte's WAR OF THE ARROWS stayed at the top of the box office for weeks in August/September of 2011. It climbed, faded, and then came back to number one only to be defeated by drama SILENCED. The epic period drama tells the tale of an archery warrior whose village is ravaged and sister is kidnapped by a bunch of marauding foreign powers, the same who killed his father sometime ago. The classic hero's journey puts this hunter up against some fearsome warriors in a beautifully shot action movie.

Lol, Park Ki Woong is a great actor. If his character looked gay, it's because he wanted him to. Plastic? Childhood pics disagrees. And an american saying he looks metrosexual is basically saying he doesn't look like shit. Because that's your average for the rest of the world, shitty looking.

Oh and btw - only the elite troop were wearing brigandine (you can see it on their shoulders which then leads down to their torso, covered by an overshirt of studded leather - most other soldiers are indeed wearing studded leather - which is indeed, in reality, is even more useless against a composite Warbow and steel tipped arrows.

In terms of historical accuracy the film scores very strongly (though i'm not sure about the arrow curving - the fletchings on the arrow are there to prevent that)

C. You can also see in the movie during melee fights - people were killed by sword strikes to their un-armoured necks, underarms, heads, legs and sides - it was rare to see a melee hit against armoured sections (unless by spears, 2-handed blows or sword thrusts).

D. There were about 80-100 horsemen attacking the minor Town* (not city) - and that was because it was a raiding party, aimed at capturing slaves, not a full invasive army - the Manchus were border raiding Korea.
