if one of these engines has a chain rattle sound what could it be? it can not be a timing chain these run on a belt.

pop open the valve cover and check for any loose parts rattling in there... take your time to inspect... normally i have a stethescope and listen so i can pinpoint but you can put a screw driver to your ear while cupping the ear with your hand so you can locate the sound. i heard about this before and i googled it like crazy but its been long since i worked on a trooper.... but do check the inside of the valve cover for any loose parts...
