Water should be a core element of your disaster preparedness survival plan; having some water storage, even if it's only a few days' worth, could make a big difference in an emergency. Water is relatively cheap, even commercially bottled water, so it's a good idea to be prepared and have some stored for an emergency event. There are many common disasters that could cause an interruption in your water service, even if you have municipal water fed to your home. Hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, snow storms, ice storms, earthquakes, or even a broken water main, can all cause an interruption in you water service.

More seriously, what if there was a long-term interruption caused by a cataclysmic event such as a Carrington sized geomagnetic storm that knocks out the power grid worldwide, or a global pandemic. Then you'd need to start thinking about a sustainable water source and how to purify that water source. There are many methods for purification including regular household bleach, calcium hypochlorite, iodine, boiling, and robust water filters.

  • Great vid friend! :)

  • @MrDuggem Thanks.

  • Great videos and I am a new subscriber to your channel. If I could add just a couple things about the store bought 2.5 gallon types from Meijer or similiar. I bought 8 of these less than one year ago and stored them in my basement. With the exception of one, they all started to leak from simply their own weight and they were not stacked.

My stored water is now the Culligan 5 gallon sealed items as they are heavy plastic and run a little over $5 each with a $6 deposit....Thanks

  • @fullbushman Very good points, thanks for sharing. So far, all of my 'cheap' containers have held...I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again for the suggestion.

  • @BlackCatSaloon you forgot chlorine dioxide(mms1).can be used internally to kill germs also.i drop of 28% sodium chlorite activated with 1 drop of 50% citric acid will purify 1 liter of river water in 1 hour.but use 5 drops for 1 gallon and 15 minute wait is better.clo2 is the strongest and best microbe killer in the world,as ranked by the American Chemical Association.

also try invive mild silver protein(but dont let it freeze!)

  • @BlackCatSaloon trash bag the cheap containers.akso calcium hypochlorite ,can also be wrapped in newspaper,or in a capsule, and taken 33% of a 0 size capsule swallowed with 2 8 oz of water will stop the plague/ebola/small pox/bird flu/it really clears your lungs when pnuemonia is arounf.look it up its also called mms2 and i used it for the swine flu and was sick only 3 days.
