@usefulmusic I believe there are some live recordings from JATP concerts (probably bootlegs) with Ray Brown trio, but I don't recall any studio recordings of them together. However, Hank's fabulous accompaniment for singers is well documented on records w. Nancy Wilson, Ernestine Anderson and Chris Connor among others.

Oscar Peterson said he learned a lot about accompanying singers from listening to Hank Jones accompanying Ella on JATP tours. Anyone knows if Ella and Hank were ever recorded together?

@happyapple68 This is the reason why jazz has such an affinity to indian music. Both need the paricipation, and especially a reaction between each musician and the people listening to this as the Tibetans would say "the instantaneous creation of a mala". In my favorite Peterson live recording of "Tenderly", you can hear the cry of joy from somewhere in the public realising "something transcendental is going to happen". Jazz brings us to look and listen to each other. The we swing together!
