The Oberlin Conservatory of Music will again be a major presence at the worlds leading festival of early music (The Times, London). Oberlin students will perform Marc-Antoine Charpentiers baroque opera "Les Arts Florissants," directed by Associate Professor of Harpsichord Webb Wiggins, at the 2009 Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF). This fully staged production, presented at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology at 1:30 p.m. on June 12, features 12 Oberlin Conservatory students—six instrumentalists and six singers—with stage direction by Visiting Assistant Director of Opera Theater Victoria Vaughan and artistic contributions from two frequent BEMF participants: choreographer Julie Andrijeski and vocal/gesture coach Ellen Hargis. Get a sneak peek of the production in this video, filmed at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music's Kulas Hall.
