Does one *really* need the venerable Technics 1200 anymore? A lot has changed in ten years, and my answer is no.

The Stanton t60 and t60x are identical turntables (the former comes with a cart while the other does not). In this video I demo the t60, and also pit it against Stanton's c314 CD deck. See how the two perform in scratching. I am using a Shure M25C cartridge, Shure's entry level cart that goes for about $30.

Also check out my classic rock megamix that utilizes the t60x here:

  • respect on your skills.I also got some t60s. you make the deck sound so nice :) hope my skills get this level soon, too.btw can i attach a shure 447 to it?

    peace

  • You can put any standard mount cart on it.

  • Peace.. Thanks for showing me the scratch capability of the tt60. Right now I'm using the vestax vci-100 midi controller for my mixes. I'm originally a vinyl dj but my 12's got jacked a few years ago so I migrated to the digital realm. It sounds good, just like vinyl but the vinyl feel just isn't there with my unit. that's what i miss. All that just to say I will be copping 2 of these. Any suggestions on a mixer with a good crossfader curve for under $200?

  • It's not quite under $200 but the American Audio QD5 would be a good choice. Get some Butter Rugz for the T60s too.

  • Stanton shouldgive this huy some free gear, cause this is agreat review, not like the standard unpackaging basic reviews, this man has skillz.

give this man a tumbs up, and let stanton know!

  • No but you cant compare the scratching on a cdj to a vinyl they just dont sound the same. Technics however are more reliable and durable they'll last you years without a single problem.

  • i have staton 324 and denon 1200

  • shukaran Haron, this is a really cool vid, cool mix, you changed may perspective about turntables.Respect

  • @xandalek good thing they stop making them too. hahaha... u can only get them used now..

  • yea, u went off fool. DJ Screw used to wreck'd like dat.

  • @halodub He uses butter rug slipmats instead of the one's that comes with it.

  • how do you get your t.60 to keep spinning while scratching? no matter how light i touch its either the record doesnt catch on my finger, or the platter stops. did you use different slipmats than the stock ones?

  • Thanks upping this video. You have showed me what i needed to know. I have been stacking on vinyl for years but never had enough cash to throw down on a decent set of turntables. I mainly want the T60's to mix but i am sure at some point i might dabble in the "scratching world' but nothing crazy like your demo. wicked skills man , thanks for showing the light on the stantons. cheers

  • I am sick of hearing "get a pair of technics". Yes they are good turntables. But everyone cant afford to buy 2 of them. So when those with less money buy stantons are vestexs. You Technics dick riders always shit on us for buying the cheaper alternative. I bet some of you Technics lovers dont even own a pair of 1200's....there I said it.

  • lmao
