I disagree with your comments - 'dependencies' have worked both ways between the US and Russia. NASA has chosen to depend on Russia - I'm sure NASA are confident with their capabilities. Also - you should know NASA, and the US, have also had their own fair share of disasters. I prefer not to be so biased.

So much for phobos-grunt huh. I was really hoping u guys made it out there and finally found out if phobos is hollow and an old spacecraft like Hoagland said. Good luck hope you guys can fix it in time!

This dependency on Russia in order to get American astronauts into space is a disaster waiting to happen courtesy of the same conniving thugs who gave us the Kursk and Chernobyl catastrophes.
In a country like Russia, a society where the media and journalism are so tightly controlled, even more than here in the USA, it's impossible to know what the safety record of their space program actually is.
