Don't throw away your old end of life Apple products. Repurpose them for something useful. Here is a dead iBook resurrected as an iPad 2 sleeve. Old tech on the outside, new tech safely cradled on the inside. This one of a kind project will definitely void your iBook warranty, but it will keep your iPad away from bumps and scratches.

Whats the difference if its thrown away or not? Landfills arent even bad, and at the price of metals these days, be certain landfills are being harvested.
Not throwing away something is the same as just keeping it on a shelf or in the garage. If you didnt throw it away, it's "recycled"? Maybe use the word "repurposed", but still; recycling is a WASTE of energy. Workers drive to the plant, shredding materials, sorting, burning, melting, skimming, chemically treating, reheating, forming, shipping
