Rhino (Latin for nose) and plasty (Greek for molding or forming) is a surgical procedure that reshapes and remodels the nose for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes. It's more commonly referred to as a "nose job" or "nose re-shaping" or "nose beautification" or simply aesthetic nasal surgery.

Rhinoplasty is a very popular procedure that can make profound differences not only in the balance of facial features, but also in a person's self-esteem. The aesthetic improvements that a rhinoplasty surgeon can make include decreasing or increasing the size of the nose, altering the tip or bridge of the nose, and narrowing or changing the shape of the nostrils.

Rhinoplasty can reduce the size of the nose or alter the shape of the tip for a more pleasing result. It can even change the angle between the nose and upper lip. It can also restore proper functioning of the nose in the case of injury or abnormalities of the nasal cavities. Rhinopasty ensures that a patient will be able to breathe through both nostrils.

Both men and women are candidates for rhinoplasty, but most surgeons will caution against the procedure for girls under 15 or boys under 17, pending full maturity.

In this video, Dr. Debraj Shome demonstrates how to make a broken and a traumatized nose more aesthetic looking. Broken noses are amongst the most challenging nasal surgeries as they have a lot of scar tissue post the injury and hence it requires special expertise in mending and correcting a broken nose aesthetically.

This patient was an Iraqi lady who suffered a bomb blast facial injury. Dr. Debraj Shome also performed a very challenging complete face 'transplant-like' surgery, which was covered by Reuters as well a many news papers globally.

Dr. Debraj Shome heads the Institute of Aesthetic Surgery and Cosmetics at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, India and is amongst the world's eminent facial plastic surgeons. More details on his work can be found on http://www.theestheticclinic.com and http://www.facialplasticsurgeonindia.com

  • I have a lot of respect for plastic surgeons in India who are highly talented, skilled and produce top notch results. Here in U.S. this woman would need a hundred thousands dollars to achieve same results because quality plastic surgery here is accessible to the wealthy only. American plastic surgeons will charge an arm and a leg with their zero ethics and pure profit motives.

  • THAT'S WHAT THE DOC DID TO ME! AH~! lol

  • Excellent surgery.

    Superb.
