In part two, 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft details Southwest's history, fierce competitive nature and "Southwest Effect," and it and Herb's relationship with Employees. Those interviewed are Herb, Flight Attendants Paula Phillips, Mary Goins, and Deborah Franklin, and America West Airlines' then-Chairman and CEO Ed Beauvais. To this day, Southwest offers fast connections & the cheapest fares.
Recently I found a discount fare to California using United. Got stuck with baggage fees, & got stuck in Cali an extra day. Last time that happened, SW simply changed my flight for free.
United charged me $220 for the change. It was cheaper to buy a one way through SW. I only fly SW from now on...
To the (former) CEO of America West. You complain about how WN screwed you over...look where you are now. Absorbed with US Airways, one of the worst airlines in the country.
