@Phantascene but a finger print has tiny lines you wouldnt be able to compare them accuratly unless the subjects have a loop a wave a worl or a arch then i suppose you could narrow it down. but it wouldnt help all that much

@eveslmatrix By either comparing it to a suspects print that he had lifted elsewhere, or by using contacts in the police department.

@eveslmatrix Suppose that he had several suspects. He knows that the one he is after used the PDA, but not which one had used it. By comparing the print taken from the PDA to prints collected from the suspects (maybe off glasses he knew they had touched?) he can determine who to focus on.

Oops, sorry, I completely missed that it could not be seen what the spay deal was. It was a can of compressed air that is used for clearing dust and pet hairs out of computer keyboards and such.
It needs to be sprayed carefully or you could spray off too much graphite, you can also remove excess dust just by gently blowing across it and tapping the card on the desk.
