This is a redo of my "How to get that Green Day Tone" video. I have found more information on the rig Green Day uses so this is a more educated approach whereas last time I gave what I was using for covers.

I left out the EQ controls on Billie's amp because I am still doing research on that. And when I have found the answer, I will do another video just on his EQ settings for the amp.

I have had people ask about the TS-9 in the "CAE Legends" website. According the video below, they use a Blues Driver now for boosts.

**EQ settings**
Clean (CAE 3+ Channel 1): Bright switch on, Gain 6, Bass 4, Mid 6, Treb 8 Master 3

Mid (CAE Channel 2): Bright switch off, Gain 3, Bass 3, Mid 8, Treb 6, Master 6

These are all according to some rig photos I've seen, MAY NOT BE 100%!
I'm still trying to find the settings for just the plexi's.

(Like I said in the video, They don't go into detail about any one thing in this video so I will be happy to clear anything up if you have a question.)

Here is a blog I found where the guitar techs are answering some questions:

  • Hi, I'm looking at a Marshall 1959 plexiglas amp and I'm just wondering coz I'm new to giant stacks and how do you switch from clean to distortion without buying a Separate pedal? Thanks!!!

  • @greendaycovers1000 This is an old school amp, the more you turn the volume up, the more gain you get.

  • Did Billie Joe use any Distortion Pedals with that Plexi? As we all know his tone is very heavy and distorted, especially around Insomniac, and the Pexi has more of a British Crunch sound.

  • @TreyArmstrong01 That all comes from the amp. Today he uses a blues driver for a boost during some solos.

  • What Strat model do you have exactly? And is this finish Sonic or Daphne Blue?

  • @Panholzer1 50s Reissue and its Daphne

  • Hate to inform you that BJ wasn't the first to slant a humbucker, Eddie Van Halen did it back in the 70's on his Frankenstrat. And Kramer did a number of slant models in the 80's.

  • why is Sittin on tha toilet one of the suggestion videos?

  • @MrChavo22 cool!

  • @MrChavo22 cool!

  • @FridayPoint3 he used an x2n until he got his signature with an invader in it

  • @MrChavo22 did he use an invader or a dimarzio x2n?

  • @frankiejoe93 Positive. One of the amps was the "Dookie" amp, and the other was a modded Marshall called the "Meat" amp.

  • @nimrodsopinions Are you sure?

  • Tom Delonge also slanted the bridge pickup in early blink 182
