In the afternoon hours of Sunday August 9,2009 Catty station 2 was hit for the house fire at the corner of 14th and Race sts. Command arrived onscene and quickly struck a second alarm for the well involved first floor. NVP was on of the first camera crews onscene and captured the fire from before the initial attack was made until it was knocked down.

    1. What do you use for video editing

    2. Are you a firefighter?

  • @ArmyRescue2 I use final cut pro and also Pinnacle for some things and yes I am also a firefighter

  • and why are people getting a thumbs down for speaking facts??

  • Why were there no hoses protecting exposures? And why exactly did it take so long to vent the roof? A little sloppy, guys.

  • Every department operates differently and has there own sop. Our engine operation at this job would be a 1 3/4 line through front door .....2nd line to top floor and a .

  • Nothing like Monday morning quarterbacking about a fire that was on video tape for a little over 7 minutes. Some people are such experts and comment, except for the experts. Lol

  • @cristiangonzalez761 Maybe you should learn to speak English before you post any negative comments.

  • @jchambers2586 1---to ventilate the smoke and hot gasses 2---we like destroying shit......Just kidding, we tear open walls etc....to check for fire extension. Nothing suck more than having to come back on a rekindle when proper overhauling will ensure the fire is completely out.Trust me, If we need to tear open a wall to check for fire, that wall is the least of your problems. Hope I helped.

  • @93CFD..There's always several ways to attack a fire. The best one is the one that results in an effective stop with minimal danger to firefighters and the protection of exposures. I only know what I can see here. With an imminent flashover at the rear door and the rest as I previously stated, this is the only way I would have attacked it. I can't comment on your way because I don't know what it is.

  • @2007muggs ida done the attack totally different but thats just me. everyone has an opinion both ways would work.

  • 2 questions.

    1. Why do they cut a hold in the roof?

    2. take the walls down to the studs ex removing sheet rock

I have a friend who I have helped rebuild houses that caught fire all the sheet rock was on the floor.

  • Initial sizeup..3 story wood frame,,,1st floor fully involved...partial involvement 2nd floor....front porch involved and roof of porch compromised....strategy..deck gun (if available) directed on front porch......No initial interior attack....at least 2 lines directed through first floor windows......after knockdown assess interior and move in. High pressure hose? No such thing. The nozzle creates the high pressure. The other critics are inexperienced at best. NICE JOB!

  • @dixiewife47 a flame about an inch tall hahaha...
