This version of "There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea" is sung by the original Lonzo and Oscar with their Winston County Pea Pickers, released in August 1948 on the RCA Victor label. It was recorded August 18, 1947 in New York. Providing instrumentation: Guitar & Leader- Lloyd George (Lonzo); Electric Guitar- Roy Wiggins; Violin- N. Lambert; Bass- Charles Grean; Mandolin- Rollin Sullivan (Oscar); Accordion- Joe Biviano; and Guitar- L.O. Shook.

Oh my Gosh! My mom used to sing this song to us when we were kids back in the early 60s. It was also one of the many songs we all sang to amuse ourselves on the way to the beach. We would go in our Grandmother's old 1950 Studebaker Champion, which had no radio. So, we sang this song, along with "99 Bottles of Beer", "The Band Played On", "Mares Eat Oats", and several others, most of the way there. What great memories!
