In the Gamecube version there is a shield powerup that forms blue blocks around your car and protects it from everything. Not sure why it isn't in the PC version...

@ronchan144 probably not since it was a while since I played this game a lot, before I got Fraps and decided to record myself. As a result I just used the same 2 cars for every track depending on whether it was dirt or road. besides, there are far worse cars I could have chosen. then you would be seeing me constantly spin out :D
