i'm from WYCHK - that's the school performing right after your school, playing the freaky 'sinfonia'. (so i actually watched you guys at the backstage through the television only... anyway it was great, wasn't it? )

Just wondering. Why are the violas on the end and the cellos in the middle? At my school the cellos (which i am a part of) are at the end.

Actually, those aren't violas on the end, they're the second violins...
It's another way to set up the orchestra. Sometimes if the violins have lines that are exchanging, it's cool to have the first violins opposite the second violins on the outside, then on the inside... have the cellos next to the 1st violins and the violas next to the 2nd violins.
It's a pretty standard arrangement for string orchestra. You'll probably see it again someday.
