Dear saerilee, Yes...it is "re-telling" (even though a some what small account), but if you look at 'all' the history pertained to Marie Antoinette, you will learn that 'some' details are left out. I wrote predictable because all the hollywood films go with this script.
Never the less I should have perhaps explained further for those who do not know the full history of MA; and so are unable to fully understand my comment. "Apologise" :)

@cheryl7davis ...storyline? It's a "retelling" of historical events. Not completely accurate, but retelling history. Considering how most somehwat-educated people know the story behind Marie Antoinette, I'm not sure if "predictable" is a valid complaint.

This movie was soooooo boring...I totally wasted my time!

The movie makes me sad. Not said about MA, history does that, but sad that this movie could have been something great but it's mostly boring.
-
Wait, why does this movie ends this way?
I thought they would do till Marie Antoinette's execution :(
-
Maie Antoinette was young and nieve. She wasn't ready to run a country.
-
i found out that marie antoinette's brother is the emperer of a place i think i found out from the movie amadeus about a composer named wolfgand amadeus mozart...he died

Awful 'music' (if you can call it that!) to this film.
Attention to detail was accurate but the story line sadly boring and predictable.

the most borrrring film I ever saw, what a waist of my time...fuck
@QMSexy They did blame her, however the guy to blame was Louis XIV. the "Sun King" spent the most money out of the entire royal family, and left Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette with a shitty economy to deal with. Not to mention how young and inexperienced they both were (Louis was not THAT young, but he wasn't into the whole leadership thing).

I fucking sick of all the people on here saying
'The ending is crap, they're supposed to show her being decapitated.'
Why should the film have to end on death? It's called "Marie Antoinette", not "The French Revolution". I think the ending was brilliant. It was so subtle, yet emotional. It didn't need the big death scene, all it needed was a last shot of MA's life gone to tatters.
