April 8, 1989 aircheck of CHOW as received from Philadelphia. The station moved to 91.7 FM in 1999 and is now CIXL-FM. Pictured are ships at Welland Canal at night.
Cool. I corrected the video description as "canal." I know the reception was a bit weak but it did come through where I could hear what was going on. R.I.P. CHOW
I used to listen to CHOW as a teenager (in the 60s & early 70's). They used to play top 40 back then in the evenings. At 12:00 midnight, they would sign off by playing Love is Blue by Paul Mauriat. Good memories.
This reminds me of my grandparents house. They always left their radio on this station, Thanks for posting it.
There is no Welland "Sound" btw, it is the Welland Canal.
It was built shortly after the Erie Canal, so many of the same Irish Immigrants were employed.
