@merkur32123 There was a solution that Coe didn't know about when he did the lava trap. Tall Mobs only swim in Lava SOURCES. If he had dug out a little and had flow in the middle, it would have even worked on chickens. I personally think that in the newer updates the lava would be more convenient, but for the older versions, this was an easy and good solution.

What's with the random fadeouts?
Also, funny that he's doing all of this when the first design - a simple pit - killed everything but chicken and allowed easy collection :P

1) Pig Problem: Add a non-glass layer below a glass layer. All mobs float between them except for chickens.
2) Deadzone Problem: At the bottom of the drowning thing, put signs. Under the signs, put the item collection stream.
3) Chicken Problem (or Rate Problem): Add a layer of water suspended by signs, perhaps flowing somewhere else. All non-chicken mobs fall straight through, chickens land on the layer of water.
4) Sheep Problem: Very difficult with this setup. I need more room to explain.
