  • I've listened to the first movement so many times in my life and yet I can honestly say every time I hear those horns at 9:25 I can't help but have an overwhelming physiological reaction to it, much like the 2nd movement of the 7th. This is Beethoven's singular power and something that's unmatched by any other composer. It's pure biology. One day in a hundred years they'll be able to explain exactly what happens in the body during these times...and it won't lessen its power one bit.

  • I listen to this one and study over night without coffee!
