Tourism Assistant Minister Cecily Mbarire is fighting back over claims by the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission Director PLO Lumumba that she and her husband sought to bribe the anti graft chief so as to stop corruption investigations against firms related to the couple in relation to tenders in the Water Ministry. Although the Runyenjes MP confirmed that her husband had written a cheque of 100,000 shillings to the PLO Lumumba Foundation, she insisted that this was after Lumumba himself had requested them to contribute towards a village polytechnic construction in Lumumba's rural Bondo home and wondered why her husband had not been arrested at the time of presenting the cheque if indeed it was a bribe. And as Hussein Mohamed reports, Mbarire even passed on to journalists at parliament pictures of her husband presenting the cheque to Lumumba, a copy of the cheque as well as an invitation card for the fundraiser.

  • Even the appearance of(not real corruption) just the appearance of corruption should have both in hot mess.PLO you have no business soliciting or being in any foundation as it could be used as a conduit for shady deals to influence KACC.

  • Lol, perhaps PLO can now walk the talk he was pushing at kina Ole Kiyapi by stepping aside while the case is investigated/ his name cleared. Lol, what's good for the goose is after all good for the gander.

  • How stupid are the Assistant minister and her husband to associate themselves with PLO when they knew too well that the said husband was under investigation by KACC? May be they did not bribe PLO, may be they did. Even by attending the fundraiser itself is a way of influencing the outcome of the case under investigation. They should have known better and kept out. And who said PLO is a saint anyway? I have a feeling he received the money from that man. Both are guilty. Period.

  • Kenyans never learn. Someone reinvents themselves and we quickly forget their past. If you want to know who PLO is, just go back into history and find out how what he did and who his associates were. Does anyone of you remember an outfit called MODAN in which he was a major player with Dr. Joseph Misoi? Do you know what his claim to fame was in his undergrad days? That said, Mr. Apaa must have pulled some slippery deals at MoW.

  • Cheap. We are yet to see action on big money cases.PLO please!!

  • now who is telling the truth?

  • @siasabora agreed! lol Mbarire told the hubby to pick 100k and put it on the pilo but the hubby heard PLO!!!!

  • @Utadowot : both must resign now....to pave way for fresh look at the whole mess.

  • who is fooling who? PLO & Lucy Onono foundation?!

looks like a double edged sword to me

  • Cecily mbarire is corrupt.
