Marni Nixon was the singing voice behind Deborah Kerr's Anna in "The King and I," Natalie Woods Maria in "West Side Story" and Audrey Hepburn's Eliza in "My Fair Lady," yet she never received a screen credit.

  • the topic of dubbing reminds me of the movie "singing in the rain", where kathy selden (debbie reynolds) has to dubb lina lamonts voice, and she wasn't allowed to say,...

  • Regarding Marilyn Monroe: She states in her book that on "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" she was asked to dub in one line: -these Rocks don't lose their shape, diamonds are a girl's best friend!" and if you listen to the recording carefully, you can tell, but the rest is pretty much all Marilyn's voice!

  • Deborah Kerr, class act. Marni Nixon, ditto.

  • Marni Nixon and Leonard Lopate, two exquisities.

  • I agree, they did the same with Oliver Twist the musical, although that would have been easy to guess....

  • This is really interesting. :) Thanks for posting.

  • @PageboyHaircut

    Excellent!

    Sounds good!

  • @SatchmoSings Where were you educated, DeVry University? Lol, your comment is a non sequitur you low brow cunt. To reiterate: you have an incredibly small penis or a very loose vagina, it is merely an assessment based off of the quality of your comments and unwarranted bitterness. Sexually assault myself? Then I strongly suggest that you go out and proclaim your discovery, for people are dying for a slice of your lack of wisdom!

  • @PageboyHaircut Until I made your acquaintance, I didn't think it possible for someone to sexually assault themselves; I now know that self-ass rape is most definitely a reality.

  • Try telephoning WNYC in New York City; all the on-air people are white; those that work "behind the scenes" are all the most dopey, affirmative-action blacks you can imagine.

  • @SatchmoSings You either have an incredibly small penis or a very loose vagina.

  • @RobinGoodFellovv Well, I couldn't swear to it, but Marni states that just that one line is Marni jumping in on that one phrase. If you listen to it carefully, you can hear that the tail end of the phrase is slightly different. Marni does NOT take credit for the high notes at the beginning of the song, I think that may be yet another soprano. It gets a little confusing, Marilyn had a passable singing voice, but not much of a range I guess -
