and get the payment arragement before the bill is due and you will avoid the disconection notice enabling you to always be eligible

@Protool11 dude if you have a normail white bill by law they must give 16 days to pay from the day it was mailed if you need more time to pay they will give you 20 more days to pay from the due date of that bill. its that simple if you have a disconnection notice you will get a about just a 5 day extension. it also states on the contract they mail to you that if you ever need a payment arrangement you must have less than 2 disconnection notices in a 12 month period so what does that mean call

Consumption is involved, but the company takes care of billing. The billing part sucks, too. If you get disconnected they can call the Centerpoint the same day, but they won't. They make you wait two days. I don't live in Houston anymore. The electricity company I have is a lot nicer compared to these guys. People please shop around before accepting a contract. Trust me.

Reliant Energy sucks. I agree because I use to work for them. Customer service sucks because you can't ever get a supervisor. For those of you asking for an extension, and they say no ask for a supervisor. They will refuse but keep asking. They will give you extension. Also, don't get balance billing or alternate billing. It fucks up your account so bad. You might think it's a good idea, but it's not.

Oh for the love of god, DOOOO NOOOOT GET A ON A CONTRACT!!! If you leave there's a cancellation fee. Oh yeah, customer service does suck bad. I know. I agree. It sucks!!! BALLS!!! Deregulation is to blame for this. It hasn't hit every city in Texas, but it will. Some people in the company agree that was a move on Bush.

Also pay your bill on time because if you don't they'll treat you like shit. Big corporations do that. I was explained by Reliant Energy. They treat you like shit because you are costing them money by not paying on time or paying at all so they don't want you as a customer. In some cases, it's not Reliant energy but Centerpoint, the people who read your meters that fuck up your bill. If your bill is super high. Ask for meter re-read. In some cases that helps.
ikarus, are you "Ignorant" A big part of the spike on everyone’s energy bill in the past 5 years has to do with the conversion to digital meters. . This was the case with my spike on the electric bill. Reliant Energy and TXU are responsible for all complaints and resolving them. The distributer is who you are paying. What kind of statement is "customer service is not perfect because people are ignorant"? Customer service is bad because idiots like you work in customer service, Douche!

Hey Mr Twelve Volts,
Your information is spotty and doesn't explain anything except that maybe you don't understand how the cost of electricity is determined and why the price fluctuates. The deposit is to ensure you pay (why would they think you wouldn't pay?) after they spend money buying fuel to make your electricity. And that fuel can be very costly to them.

Fairvideos,
How about you call Reliant Sucks and ask one of the window lickers who answer the phone once your on hold 3 hours to explain to you how the cost of electricity works or better yet ask for a supervisor to explain this to you.
