Serious breach of protocol by the captain. A senior officer can never verbally reprimand a fellow officer of lower rank in front of enlisted men. Denzel's expression after the shut the fuck up line is priceless! A mixture of shock, disbelief and outrage. So well acted by these 2 giants.

This has already been addressed. Read my 2nd reply, the one that starts w/ the word "Right". No one here claims that they weren't doing their duty. Their duties just conflict within a flawed system.

Both the captain and the XO are doing their duties despite having conflicts on how to resolve such situation. In the end, the captain has breach protocol of continuing the launch without the consent of his XO.

Replace the characters w/ non-opinionated robots and the system would side w/ the decision to carry out the confirmed order ASAP regardless of the fact that an incomplete 2nd message was received. In other words, the Captain's decision is consistent w/ the system regardless of his personality. If the system states that confirmed orders are cancelled when communications are down, then the Captain would still stay consistent w/ it. Following the system doesn't put you at fault. It's your duty.
