Many Catholics were indeed courageous in saving Jews. One cannot help but wonder however if Pope Pius had instructed devoutly Catholic Marshall Pétain that antisemitic laws were immoral, sinful and contrary to the law of God and the Church, more Jews might have been saved

If it weren't for the Catholic Church, few if any Jews would have survived the Holocaust.

Jews everywhere owe the Catholic Church an everlasting debt of gratitude.

1. the concordat has nothing to do with the HOly See and Nazi Party. It is about the relationship of two soveriegn states.
2. What benefit can we get from formally excommunicating Hitler? more bloodshed? It is even possible that Hitler excommunicated himself. After the war, the church cannot excommunicate Hitler for he was already dead. Yet, the church was clear in condemning Nazi atrocities.

There was an SS report saying "It is obvious that the Catholic Church in Germany is opposing the natinal policy of attacking the Hebrew power. They are supporting Jews, helping them to scape, they are by all means helping them in their daily life, and therefore makes it easier for them to stay ilegitimatelly in the 3rd Reich. People in charge of this are clearly supported by bishops and they give Jews food, even depraving German children of it" ZS02121902

Hitler hated Crhistians and Catholics, he said, "Either you are German or you are Christian". "we will make priests to dig their own tumb". Hitler banned the practise of Catholicism, he took of the crosses from the schools,(Paul Johnson, history of Christianism), while the Baptist Church wellcame Hitler.Hitler said to Ludendrof in 1920 he had to hid his hate for Catholics. BTW on the 6th September 1938, he said "In a spiritual way we are all semitics"

The Church signed concordats with most European countries, most of them are still valid as the German one; it wasn't the sign between a regime and the Church but between a country and the Church. Anyway the prohibition for atholics to belong to the Nazi party was also still current (NSDAP), he signed 2 enciclicas against Nazism, one in 1937 in Germany and one in 1942 against crimes commited in Poland. He supported the bishops and priests who opposed Nazism and censorshiped the supporters.
