Albino discus present breeders with a unique challenge. Since they lack dark pigment their fry are not attracted to their sides. This problem can be over come by artificially raising the fry, using a non albino pair to foster raise the albino fry or by crossing an albino with an intermediate (carrier of the albino gene). In this case I crossed an albino with an intermediate. Since the albino gene is recessive this results in 50% of the fry turning out albino. The intermediate parent carries the fry for the first several days. After that the fry have grown strong and will start to feed off the albino parent to a small extent.
