American Trucks VS European Trucks

@Delta0763 They aren't safer at all. Beyond Volvo America, normal engine forward trucks have ABYSMAL safety ratings. And since europe is 99% cab overs, the rule applies to them to (cab overs naturally being death machines).
And as a general rule, MODIFICATION doesn't count. From the factory, european trucks are comfier.
Why compare the two? Why not? Both have hits and misses, both are used all over the world. They're prime for comparison :D

European trucks are comfier, but american trucks are just plain stronger. Australia doesn't count, those road trains are modified machines. "Out of the box brand new" American trucks are the stronger pullers on road. But the euro trucks have manuverability and, courtesy of mercedes benz, fancy "Lock from in the cab" differentials that grant you magical 6x6 power out of what would normally be a 6x4 or 6x2.
Both make great trucks. I want a jet powered leyland lol.

American trucks look cooler, last longer, and are safer. Comfort can be remedied by modifications, so that shouldn't be a factor. American trucks are built for America. European trucks are built for Europe. I don't know why they are compared so often.

while we dont actually make trucks in Australia, i have to say we make them look pretty mean, i mean airbrushing is awesome and it looks really cool but you have to keep it clean and you cant get it really dirty, in Australia most trucks have the stock standard paint job that came on the truck, big bull bars with spotlights big CAT or R.M Williams mudflaps ROAD TRAIN signs and stone deflecters with slogans that some might consider offensive, they also have more than one trailer in most cases,

@EnjoyFirefighting Almost ALL trucks and busses produced in Europe fail the roll over test that is mandatory here in the United States.
American trucks are the safest in the world.

@cadrolls which minimum safety requirements do you mean by exactly?; don't know which ones the european trucks fail for US conditions. (in the other way around I would know at least seom safety issues of US trucks in Europe).
e.g. Mercedes-Benz, MAN or Scania are some very safe trucks, similar to Volvo, they all have a lot of good working active and passive safety systems
-
@EnjoyFirefighting Most European trucks aren't allowed on American roads because they fail to meet minimum safety requirements. Volvo is one exception. American truck drivers turn to American made trucks because they know that American engines are built to last longer than European engines.

@cadrolls "better" is quite a relative term; I'd rather say that US trucks are better for US conditions, cause here, they wouldn't be suitable at all: Small streets and tight turns in historic city centers (like in my city where the center is 2000 (!) years old) make it hard for big/long trucks, and many trailers from US trucks don't have a skid plates ( a must-have for safety in our fast-going highway traffic
I'm an Aussie Trucker have been for 10 year I driven them all From Macks, Kenworths to Volvo and Iveco Scania (We have very few peter built here) through my year I have learnt one thing I prefer the European Trucks for a comfort level. I what Kenworth is toting as a knew feature, I had in my Scania 10 years ago, that said Scania, I can drive 1500 Kilometer in a Kenworth and get out looking like an old bloke with a hunch back or I can drive 1500 Kilometers in a Iveco and get fresh.

i agree that american trucks are alot bigger than europeian trucks but remember this, it's the quality that matters not the quantity
