Made in just two days for the 2008 Dallas 48-Hour Film Project, "Pages" is our first attempt at delivering pure dramatic entertainment without any messages.

While there's not much to say about the story- at least, not without giving anything away- it's a bit of a mix between Memento (hadn't seen it when I shot this), The Bourne Identity, and Cover's Story.

I flew into Dallas after class one day to shoot this, and flew back to class a few hours before the contest ended. It was, to say the least, a very hectic weekend. The copy you're seeing is the draft I was sent while it was being edited. I wish I had a more polished copy (a few bits of unsynced audio here and there) but seeing as I live in a different city, I can't access the original copy. This is also why the credits are separate from the film.

  • I also am a scriptwriter, camera operator, lighting tech, and I dabble in directing too. Im looking for a good team.I'm at the Art Instittute of Atlanta. Its hard finding a reliable team.

  • Great job guys. I know how much work it takes for something to look half way decent, and this is pretty good, so I know you guys are on your way. Keep it up!!

  • Hey this is good, I live near Dallas and I never heard of that dallas 48 hour film project thing. How did you contact a composer, because I've been trying to find one for a while, and haven't been able to use good music in my short films.

  • The music is courtesy a composer we contacted online back in 2005, and have gratefully been able to get his signed permission to use in our films every time we do a 24 or 48 hour contest.

  • Thanks!

As the crew was small for the contest (just me and a friend of mine to help move/carry things) we shot as quickly and efficiently as possible; and more than one camera wouldn't have worked for us here.

So I shot on a single Canon XL2 with the on-board mic for everything, save three takes on the indoor scene with a wireless mic a friend loaned out to me for the latter part of the contest. Even so, this was only for three shots, and is used only for the "get out of here, man" line.

  • very good work!
