  • Wow I didn't think people were going to be so ignorant. Hello, Glastonbury is a MUSIC festival, not an alt. indie etc. whatever festival, either way it's safe to say Jay-Z killed it at Glasto so it's kinda irrelevant now

  • hip hop is phase in music (a bad one at that). Its based around image more than music thats why people have such a hatred for it! try the meatloaf test if its sang by some one who looks like meatloaf and still people like it its good music. could you imagine jay-z looked like meatloaf do you think he would sell records??? Not a hope in hell

  • I find it funny that an Oasis member, is having a go at pop. What a douche.

  • @DCTheGuitarist Varity? And you call me a tard!? Don't get angry just because you clearly have a problem talking shit, I'd suggest an education would help but it would be wasted on you, now go and take a run and jump from a tall building, or failing that, comment on something you know about as you have obviously never been to Glastonbury...you TARD.

  • @steve30toon I'M NOT CONTESTING THE AMOUNT OF VARITY YOU FUCKING TARD JUST THE REASON CERTAIN ACTS ARE BOOKED, AS MENTIONED IN THE FIRST COMMENT.

  • @DCTheGuitarist Have you even read my comment or decided to skim it and focus on one line of it!? I never mentioned the main stage, I said there are numerous stages packed with unknown talent, if you don't like who is on a particular stage go to another, simple really, there is something for everyone! Next time read my comment properly.

  • @DCTheGuitarist

And wheather you disagree or not Jay Z was booked, like many as a mainstream act to sell tickets.

  • @steve30toon So when was the last time a small labelled band headline the main stage?

  • @DCTheGuitarist I couldn't disagree more to be honest, have you been to Glastonbury? If you have then you will know that it has a ridiculous amount of stages all devoted to bands who are not selling, as you say, '10 million units'

The choice of genres, bands and acts is bigger than ever at Glastonbury and if people don't want to watch Jay Z or whoever on one stage have plenty of options open to them on another.

  • @justentime77

What you say about Oasis is true they were never outstanding musicians, but Hip hop and Rap has always been centred around using technology to make music easily and quickly due to the nature of midi/syths and Mc recording programmes like pro tools.

It has for better use of a term subverted popular music as an art form, lyrical yes it is very clever but in terms of musical prowess its one step up from a 4 year hitting some pots and pans.

  • The thing is that Glastonbury has gone the way of V: safe mainstream acts that will sell a shit load of tickets over content/ acts that will add diversity.

Whether you like or loath Jay Z he was only booked on the bases not to provide an alternative or diversity to the regular festival line up. Each year Glasto takes a step closer to being a radio friendly pedestrian festival, when once it was about British Bands that didn’t have to sell a 10 million units to headline.

  • this isn't a go at glasto, this a fucking commentator!
