Mylapore Festival - 2007

Mylapore Festival is conducted every year in January 2007 at Chennai. One of the event is the Kolam Competition. On North Mada Street, women participate in a Kolam Contest. Kolam is an art form which is practiced in India. In southern parts, kolam is drawn with the aid of a series of dots and lines passing through these dots. Kolam is drawn usually with rice flour. Rangoli is also a variety of Kolam but it is colourful. The contestants are judged on the basis of the Kolams drawn by them on the North Mada Veedhi at Mylapore.
