@Riptcage maya 7 was very great I have used maya 7 even movie's where build with maya 7 and maya 7 was also good enough to build this in a very fast way like I said maya is great in the hands of a real artist.. and he used only shatter but I hate maya shatter it's very slow and it's not that perfect so I have build my own script inside of maya it's a shatter effect that can break down 10.000.000.000polys in 2,14 seconds live so u don't have to wait to see the result.. maya = mel, no mel no maya.

@dreamerboy1231 remember, this was 2007. were talking maya 8 or 8.5 here. more then likely he used maya 7.

@mrlamer 10 hours :S ? umm no hard feelings great effect but then u need to upgrade u'r computer because the render is not full. and also the effects is setup wrong.. see my shatter clip in my channel the wholl sequence take's 3 hours to render the wholl clip.. with editing included.. also don't try to render everything in maya build layers and also that spark effect is great but why building that in maya ? build it in a composting program.. something u don't have to build in a 3d software ;)..

This would be so cool in that one Simpsons episode when Homer enters the 3rd Dimension

@batatacara The quality was bad because trying to render something like that in high quality would take AGES on his rig

look like puzzles pieces

Hey guys look! It is an exact remake of the movie 2012!
lol, took around 10 hours to render, and i had to code a program to generate mel code otherwise i would have had to individually set the rigid body collision with the particles individually. The render was done with mental ray, on an AMD 3500+ Single Core 939. pretty simple
