quite how someone can actually write something as amazing as this song is beyond me - I hope I do it some justice (Passing Afternoon EP) (I passed one afternoon learning this song!)

capo on 4
basic positions relative to capo

verse
057000
then open to1st fret 2nd string
second to open on 3rd string
open to second on 4th string
open 3rd string
all above in quick succession
back to
057000
then
000035
000037
000035
(just 000035 second time)
that's the verses

chorus is

022000
044000
055000
x2

  • Hi Joe i know youve already responded to a question about the tab for this but have you any idea what tab site you used? Ultimate? This is a tremendous copy , one of your finest!!!

  • sorry, still can't find the tab, but I know the tuning now: DGDGBD

I am posting the basic chord positions in the vid description :) hope it helps

  • Joe did you tune down the top E string like the tab I've found suggests?

  • really sorry, I don't remember the tuning I used and I cant find the tab anywhere.. this is the easist way to play it though .. i think maybe the E and D string are tuned down?

  • Incredible, I love this

  • thanks :)

  • very good brother, sam beam would be proud

  • Fantastic cover, my friend, your voice does justice to Iron & Wine's style.

  • Great song & cool player! Thx Man'

  • great cover

  • this is the second iron and wine tune i have heard you do Joe, you never fail to impress! keep them coming!

  • Alternatively you can tune the A to a G, and just use that. Still only two G's though ;)

  • Actually, most tabs and tunings I've found on the web are wrong.

    Tune the high E to a D, then the low E to a G.

The G (old E) is only picked two times in the verse (not like the three times in this video).
