Eminem + Hillary Clinton + Barack Obama + John F. Kennedy + The Real Slim Shady hip-hop political music video Mash-Up featuring special comment by Chris Matthews
--------------------------------------------
At a campaign rally in rural West Virginia, Hillary Clinton said that, much like her, John F. Kennedy also didn't have the necessary delegates to clinch the nomination as late as the Democratic National Convention in 1960. "It was West Virginia that made it possible for John Kennedy to become president," Clinton told a small group at a local high school. "Now John Kennedy didn't have the number of delegates he needed when he went to the convention in 1960, he had something equally as important he had West Virginia behind him." As Clinton struggles to keep pace with Barack Obama in pledged delegates, in superdelegates, and in campaign contributions, her argument to stay in the race has shifted several times in the past few weeks...She refrained from engaging her opponent directly but did take him to task for not supporting the federal gas tax holiday. Clinton said Obama calls it "a gimmick" which prompted one man in the audience to yell "We need that gimmick!" Clinton ended her speech with a final plea to voters to turn out tomorrow saying again, "West Virginia has nearly always picked the next president." She even called on young voters to get involved in the election. "I am asking for you help tomorrow. Those of you who have just turned old enough to vote, I would be honored to have your first vote."

In an interview with the Argus Leader, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., took the unusual step of invoking the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy, D-N.Y., when discussing the continuing Democratic nomination battle."My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it." Clinton said.

Sen. Clinton almost immediately tried to blunt the potential impact of her statement, telling reporters in South Dakota, "Earlier today I was discussing the democratic primary history and in the course of that discussion mentioned the campaigns that both my husband and Senator Kennedy waged in California in June in 1992 and 1968. And I was referencing those to make the point that we have had nomination primary contests that go into June that's a historic fact. The Kennedy's have been much on my mind for the last days because of Senator Kennedy."

"I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation - particularly for that family - was in any way offensive," Clinton continued. "I certainly had no intention of that whatsoever. My view is that we have to look to the past and to our leaders who have inspired us and give us a lot to live up to and I'm honored to hold Senator Kennedy's seat in the United States Senate in the state of New York. And have the highest regard for the entire Kennedy family."

Though she has now apologized for that very strange and tasteless comment to the Argus-Leader, this was not the first time she's said it. This from her interview with TIME Managing Editor Richard Stengel, published March 6:

TIME: Can you envision a point at which--if the race stays this close--Democratic Party elders would step in and say, "This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall"?
CLINTON: No, I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

Her excuse now is that the Kennedys have been "much on my mind these days" with the illness of Senator Edward Kennedy, but that doesn't explain what brought it to mind more than two months ago.

  • Today's democrat and the democrat JFK was are completely different. JFK was more conservative than even many of today's republicans.

    Keep smoking the Hopium though!

  • There has never been anyone like JFK on either side of the aisle since his murder. The fear of the bankers and the payoffs offered by them are too much to resist for today's politicians. They have all sold the American people down the drain. Pesident's are chosen, not elected. The bankers learned a hard lesson by allowing JFK to expose the secret societies.
