This is a camera test for my Bolex EBM. Shot on Kodak 5201 50D 16mm film. Transferred on Spirit by Technicolor Toronto.

Camera: Bolex EBM with Du-All custom Battery and switch. JK camera bolex bayonet to canon FD mount adapter. Bolex to c-mount adapter.

Light metering with iPhone App pocket lightmeter (not accurate at all.)

Glass: Switar 10mm Preset 1.6, Canon FD 24mm 2.8

Film Stock: Kodak Vision2 5201 50D

Music: "Echoes of Mine" - M83

  • Wonderful choice of time, light and subjects! I suppose you could have gone half a stop more but this works really well. You have captured the atmosphere well. I can 'feel' it. The light at 0:36 is beautiful. When I see stuff like that I really get that itch to shoot movie film again (many years ago I used to shoot Super-8).

    Maybe the iPhone assumes that you're pointing it at ~18% gray?

    I'm curious: why did you choose 8-bit DI and not 16-bit? From what I can tell it doesn't seem to matter.
