These commercials aired on NBC during the 1988 Olympics on September 17th, 1988. Thanks to my aunt and uncle for recording this!

1. McDonald's
2. Diet Coke (With Demi Moore)
3. Sprint
4. Canon Personal Copiers (With Jack Klugman!)
5. Olympic Commercial Bumpers for McDonald's, American Express, US Sprint and Coca Cola
6. Buick (Red, White and Buick!)
7. Miller Genuine Draft (Did I really just hear the phrase "happy ending" in a beer commercial?)
8. Olympic Commemorative Coins
9. Promo for "Dear John" (Judd Hirsch deserved another successful sitcom after "Taxi")
10. Suburban Ford (With former San Francisco Giants manager Dusty Baker)
11. Yes On 100
12. Play Lotto (With Michael Tucker)
13. Walt Gray on Channel 3 Sports
14. Isuzu
15. Kodak Supralife Batteries (With Stevie Wonder! You can hear the final jingle in Vol. 7)
16. Minute Maid Orange (This is slightly frightening)
17. Shearson Lehman Hutton
18. George Bush For President (In retrospect not a terrible President. I just wish he hadn't had any children)

  • I agree with you on Bush. personally, I'd have preferred him over Clinton (though not Perot) four years later.

Funny though him talkiing about not allowing the US to be weak again. But before him was Reagan, is he implying Reagan made AMerica weak?

  • @Vebinz I'm not a republican, but I really just don't think the first Bush really did enough in office to really make me form a negative opinion. When leading a week-long invasion of another country and throwing up on the Japanese PM are the most memorable moments of your Presidency...you're A-OK in my book.

I assume he was talking about Carter.

  • So I'm guessing Canon couldn't afford Tony Randall and had to settle for a cheap knock-off to serve as Klugman's counterpart.

  • That had to be a depressing meeting in Canon's advertising department when they announced they could only afford one member of TV's Odd Couple. Dreams shattered and hopes crushed.

  • McDonald's took a bath on that scratch-and-win contest. I loved when the Simpsons later parodied it with Krusty Burger.

  • Bush's speech here reminds me of alien-Clinton's speech on the Simpsons. "Forwards, not backwards! Upwards, not forwards! And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!"

  • @thruthenever I personally am gonna spit into every 50th burger!

  • Diet Coke commercial is everything a commercial should be...and more! Very cute and funny.

  • All Hail Demi Moore...

  • David Alan Grier is in the Isuzu commercial.

  • That's Frankie Faison as the first man in the Olympic commemorative coin commercial.

  • @80sCommercialVault

    I agree.

I'm of neither parties or idealogies, I just find him more low-profile than the his three successors who played too much the part of "nation's therapist and shepherd" for my taste.

  • 7:37 that Minuit Maid commercial is HILARIOUS!!!

7:55 ROFL!!! "ORK! ORK!" "Ooooh!" ROFL!!!

  • George Herbert Bush heh heh.if only we knew then what we know now.
